It is my belief that the relationship between therapist and client is more critical than any type of theory, practice, or modality. That is why I put my relationship with clients first and foremost. Clients who work with me report:
- Increased self-awareness and feeling more positive toward oneself… ”I feel more comfortable in my own skin.”
- Increased feelings of self-worth and confidence
- A greater sense of trust and self-acceptance in themselves; and more confidence in who they are their place in the world
- More joy and satisfaction in their relationship and careers
- Better ability to distinguish between truth and deception
- More insight into what their next move in life is
- Effective coping skills and learning how to use them, especially when life throws you curve balls
With a practical optimism and a solution-focused vision, I take a person-centered, holistic/wellness based approach to therapy. This means I believe that everything is interconnected…we are affected by every area of our lives and they all affect one another. I also believe we were born whole and that each of us already possesses the tools necessary to realize our full potential. That said, there are times our lives take a direction we least expected, and it is at these times when we most need comfort and clear direction to empower us for change. Understanding a person as a whole is how true understanding begins. I am committed and passionate about my work, acting with honesty, and strong character – approaching life with kindness and humility.
My clients are motivated and committed to making changes in their life and I love providing them with tools and techniques so they can reach their potential. I have worked extensively and successfully with individuals suffering from anxiety, depression, borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, and trauma. I work with clients of all ages, races, genders, and sexual orientations toward finding joy and direction in life; and while I am well-rounded in my ability to help people with a range of problems, I am most passionate about helping people in their journey to heal unresolved emotional wounds from childhood that continue to impact one’s life in adulthood; borderline personality disorder; early recovery from addictions, and co-dependency; life transitions; and low self-esteem.
Through developing curiosity, self-understanding, and self-compassion, old patterns can be loosened and new choices become possible. This is a creative and collaborative process that may incorporate practical problem-solving, coupled with evidence-based therapeutic modalities, balanced with elements of mindfulness practice.
